Efus publishes its 2025 Security, Democracy and Cities manifesto
In light of the current political situation in Europe, we feel the need to strongly reaffirm the following principle: security is our common good and a foundation of our democracies. This is the core idea of our manifesto,

which we've just updated. This new version was redacted together with our member local and regional authorities in the wake of our latest Security, Democracy and Cities conference. The manifesto is divided in two parts: a short exposé of our key political principles and a series of practical recommendations on 18 urban security topics.

More than 50 case studies illustrate the 2025 manifesto's recommendations

The manifesto includes our political and practical recommendations on 18 urban security topics, such as youth delinquency, discriminatory violence, drugs and addictions and organised crime, to name a few. They are all illustrated by examples of practices implemented at the local level by Efus member local and regional authorities.

Throwback to 2024: three milestones
The Security, Democracy and Cities conference was a key event of 2024 with 700 attendees from 125 cities and regions and 18 urban security topics covered in multiple sessions. On this occasion, Efus President and Vice Presidents signed an op-ed in Le Monde where they reaffirmed the importance of prevention and social cohesion to make cities and regions safer. Another highlight of 2024 was the conclusion of the four-year IcARUS European project led by Efus to explore innovative tools and methods to improve local crime prevention.
