Cities step up efforts to offer a safer nightlife for all

Efus and its member cities advocate for comprehensive local public policies on nightlife that involve all stakeholders on the ground and take into account the public's diversity, with the objective of offering a safe nightlife for all. Over a period of three years, Efus and its partners in the SHINE European project worked more specifically on the prevention of sexual harassment in nightlife venues. This is a key issue for many cities whose attractiveness depends in part on the quality of their nightlife.

Research and innovation: join the TRANSCEND European project!

Efus and its partners in a European research and innovation project on security technologies (TRANSCEND project) are looking for cities willing to share their experience in the fields of cybersecurity, resilience to disasters, combatting crime and terrorism, and/or border management.

How to make public spaces safer and more inclusive?

Efus and its partners in two European projects, PACTESUR and Secu4All, worked over the past few years on this key issue for cities.

Concluding three years of work, the PACTESUR partners recommend, in the Brussels Declaration, several ways in which local authorities can intervene [to better protect their public spaces. They are all based on multi-agency partnerships, in other words the participation of all relevant actors,” said Elizabeth Johnston, Efus Executive Director.

Giving practical tools to local authorities to help them better anticipate and prevent risks to public spaces:  this was the objective pursued by Efus with the Secu4All project

Join us in Mannheim on 13 June for the project's final conference to learn about its results and exchange with our partners: cities, research institutes, universities and the French, Italian and German Forums for Urban Security.
