In our Security, Democracy and Cities manifesto, our members commit to "intensifying their efforts as coordinators and facilitators of prevention networks that include a multiplicity of stakeholders and increasing the diversity of profiles – particularly gender – in the teams involved in the prevention of violence against women." This is why we at Efus have adopted a feminist, gender-based perspective in all our activities responding, as ever, to the needs of cities in our network.

In practice: everyday prevention in Schaerbeek, Belgium | |
One of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, Schaerbeek has an array of crime prevention schemes going on, from Peace Guards, to street sport, social work in the streets and mediation at school, to name a few. The municipality has produced a series of videos for the general public showing how these schemes work on the ground. | |

Local police from all over Europe at the PACTESUR 2 Police Academy in Madrid | |
More than 50 local police officers from 14 cities from all over Europe took part in the Police Academy organised by the Madrid local police as part of the PACTESUR 2 project. | | | |
Participants gained insights on public space protection through panel discussions, field visits and simulation exercises. The event was also an opportunity for a meeting of the EU-POLNET network of European local police forces, which is coordinated by Efus. | |

We are continuing our series of podcasts with a new season focused on practical tools cities can use to improve urban security. These tools were designed through the Efus-led IcARUS project. | |
